At Grimsby Plastering Services, what starts as a simple decorating request often evolves into something far more transformational. One recent project showcases just how impactful expert plastering, lighting, and finishing touches can be in updating and adding value to a property.
Here’s a quick video of the job.
From Artex Ceilings to Smooth, Modern Perfection
The job began as a standard decorating enquiry. The homeowner wanted to refresh the look of their property, but the stippled artex ceilings were a major visual obstacle. We recommended skimming the ceilings with fresh plaster to achieve a smooth, contemporary finish, something that would instantly modernise the space.
But why stop there?
To elevate the design further, we suggested installing recessed downlights, turning a basic redecoration into a full interior enhancement. These modern fixtures perfectly complemented the sleek new ceiling and brought a high-end, elegant feel to the rooms.
Clever Cabling Without Disruption
One challenge we faced was accessing the ceiling for the lighting installation. The upstairs flooring was a fitted wooden laminate with wardrobes mounted on top. Removing it would have meant days of extra work. Our solution? Carefully cut into the ceiling to run the cabling. This saved both time and cost, allowing us to get straight to PVA bonding and plastering within the first few hours.
A Growing Vision: Iron Spindles and Staircase Upgrades
As the transformation unfolded, the homeowner became increasingly excited. The fresh plaster and modern lighting created a stark contrast to the rest of the property, especially the outdated wooden stair spindles, which were slightly warped. She asked if we could take it a step further and replace them with wrought iron spindles, a choice that completely elevated the staircase and hallway.
The staircase was then painted and finished with a brand-new carpet and decorative stair rods, completing the transformation. What began as a small decorating job turned into a full aesthetic overhaul, revitalising the property from its 1990s look into a stylish, modern home.
A Complete Home Transformation
The results speak for themselves: clean lines, sleek finishes, and an interior that feels fresh, bright, and modern. Even better? These enhancements significantly increased the home’s market value. A win-win for the homeowner, who was absolutely thrilled with the final outcome.
